Dec 24: Christmas Day

I do know the calendar, but for simplicity’s sake I did not compensate when we skipped a day traveling to Australia, so we are celebrating a day ahead of the USA.

We only finished half of everything, so we’ll do it again tomorrow.

Dec 23: Rump Steak, Fries & Salad; Korean

Lunch

Today we had lunch with Foodie Greg’s parents who took us to a yacht club with a restaurant out in the lake.

Foodie Greg had Salt & Pepper Squid, while Foodie Philip had the above mentioned Rump Steak, etc.

We both enjoyed our meals. The rump had well rendered fat, which is difficult when served rare. Overall, an enjoyable meal.

Dinner

Tonight we joined the rest of the family to celebrate one of our niece’s birthday at a Korean restaurant.  Foodie Greg had pressure cooked short ribs, which was appropriately tender and flavor some.

Foodie Philip opted for BBQ eel, which was also very good. Served with kimchi and other pickled sides, it was a good representation of Korean food.

Dec 22: Indian; Chicken and Salad

Lunch

Warners Bay (NSW) has a great Indian take out, so today we got garlic Naan, Lamb Korma and Butter Chicken Sauce over very good rice. The Naan is prepared to order in the in-store tandoor so it’s exceptionally fresh.

Like I said, great Indian for Au$11.25 (US$8.12) per serve.

Dinner

For dinner we sliced the remaining chicken bread and mixed it with the remaining Asian salad.

  • The chicken breast was Au$2.50
  • The Asian salad kit was Au$3.99 or $1.00 per serve.

The meal was filling and tasty enough to satisfy for Au$3.50 (US$2.47) per serve.

Dec 21: Chicken & Stuffing Sandwiches; Carrot and Cheddar Soup

Lunch

We split a chicken breast across two sandwiches and topped with the stuffing from the bird.

  • The bread was Au$0.44 per serve
  • The chicken breast Au$1.25 per serve with the stuffing
  • Hummus added Au 30c per serve.

A decent sandwich for Au$1.99 (US$1.39) per serve.

Dinner

As we are clearing out Foodie Philip’s mother’s home, we found some frozen carrot and cheddar soup that we defrosted, heated and enjoyed her cooking again.

This has been a long term favorite of Foodie Philip and was still very enjoyable..

Dec 20: Caesar Chicken Schnitzel Wrap; Chicken Leg and Asian Salad

Lunch

Another local lunch outlet with enormous serves features a Schnitzel Wrap with Caesar salad. Schnitzel wraps seem to be an Australian thing, but they  are a) enormous, and b) delicious for Au$12.90 (US$9.07) per serve.

Dinner

Tonight we had the chicken and Asian salad we planned for last night.

  • The Chicken was Au$9.9o and we each had ¼ or Au$2.50 (US$6.96) per serve
  • The Asian salad kit was Au$3.99 or Au$1.00 (US$0.70)

The Asian Salad was quite good. A simple and decent meal for Au$3.50 (US$2.46) per serve.

Dec 19: Ham & Cheese Omlette; Yeros

Breakfast

Stillmon the aircraft we each had a Ham and Cheese Omlette, which was quite decent considering the circumstances.

Lunch

By the time we arrived at our final destination and were able to get food it was mid afternoon. We returned to a local Yeros vendor and enjoyed an enormous Yeros with Cheese, salad and garlic sauce for Au$8.95 or US$6.29 per serve.

Although we had purchased food for dinner, neither of us was hungry after the enormous Yeros.

Lunch

For lunch we decided on our favorite sandwich: a bahn mi for $8.95 including tax and tip.
