We had a simple toasted Ham, Cheese and Tomato sandwich.

Dinner

We planned on having frozen Vegetable Biriyani for $3.59 per serve, but it was not to Foodie Philip’s liking, so he had a repeat of the Smoked Trout Chowder for $3.61 per serve, for an average of $3.60 per serve.

Nov 21: Spanish Mussels with Chris and Tomato-Wine Sauce with Garlic Bread

Lunch

The Foodies had an odd lunch with only one Crispbread speed with Branston Pickle and Cheddar as we’d had two small Pancakes each for breakfast.

  • The Rye Crispbread was $3.29 for a pack of 20, or 17c per serve
  • The Cheddar was $3.49 and we used about 60%, or 53 per serve
  • Branston Pickle was $13.31 for the jar, and we used about 1/5th, or 67c per serve.

Not counting the Pancakes, lunch was $1.37 per serve.

Dinner

Tonight we made a welcome return to Spanish Mussels with Chorizo and Tomato-Wine Sauce, again without the Heavy Cream. We served with toasted Italian Bread liberally spread with Spicy Garlic Spread for an amped up Garlic Toast.

  • The pre-cooked Mussels were $2.29 or $1.15 per serve
  • Sherry adds 58c per serve
  • The Chorizo was $5.11 after all discounts and we used half, or $1.28 per serve
  • Add 85c for other ingredients
  • The Italian Bread is 29c per serve

Nov 20: Chipotle Turkey Bacon Meatloaf with Cauliflower Mash, Turkey Gravy and Sugar Snap Peas

Although it’s only been a week, it was time for another Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich from Skewers Halaal f0r It has been far too long between Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches from Skewers, for $8.75 per serve.

Dinner

Chipotle Turkey Bacon Meatloaf is a favorite and tonight we served with Cauliflower Mash Potato, Turkey Gravy and Sugar Snap Peas.

  • Ground turkey cost $6.39 or $1.60 per serve
  • Bacon was $5.99 and we used ⅓, or 50c per serve
  • A can of chipotle is $1.50 and we used half, or 38c per serve
  • Add 65c for onion, breadcrumbs and seasonings
  • The gravy was $1.78 or 89c per serve
  • The Cauliflower Mash was $2.49, or $1.25 per serve.

The Meatloaf was great, as usual, but we found the Cauliflower Mash to be way to focused on the Cauliflower flavor that was mostly left behind by the Fooides. Otherwise a good meal for $5.27 per serve.

Nov 19: Smoked Trout Chowder

We enjoyed some reheated Soutzoukakia on a hot Panini Roll with Heirloom Tomato.

  • The Soutzoukakia is $3.23 per full serve, or 81c per lunch serve
  • The Panini Roll is 63c

A tasty roll for $1.64 per serve.

Dinner

This week’s Fishy Friday is a return to Smoked Trout Chowder, which makes four serves.

  • The Smoked Trout was $8.72 after all discounts, or $2.18 per serve
  • Potatoes add 34c per serve
  • Garlic and Scallions add 15c per serve
  • Chicken Bone Broth adds 50c per serve
  • Wine adds 13c per serve
  • Grass fed Half & Half is $3.79 per pint and we used ¼, or 24c per serve

  • Add 37c for a mini Baguette.

Nov 18: Roast Chicken Leg with Southwest Salad

Today we did a repeat of yesterday’s Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato.

  • Uncured Bacon was $5.99 for 10 slices, and we shared three, or 90c per serve
  • Lettuce adds 20c per serve
  • An Heirloom Tomato was $3.89 and we used half, or 98c per serve.

A very tasty sandwich for $2.66 per serve.

Dinner

We were supposed to have our Bento Box/Tuna Tataki meal, but Aldi did not have any Ahi Tuna, so we swapped to a simple Southwest Salad with a Leg from the Amazon Fresh Roast Chicken.

  • The Roast Chicken Leg was $1.25 per serve
  • The Southwest Salad kit is $1.00 per serve.

A decent meal for $2.25 per serve.

Nov 17: Beef Massaman Curry

The classic sandwiches are Classics for a reason: they are good, and there’s nothing better than a great Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich.

Foodie Greg found a Beef Chuck Roast on special at Aldi for $16.14. We will get at least four serves from the recipe.

  • Peanuts were $2.99 but we only used half, or 75c per serve

One of the best Massaman Curries we’ve made, for $7.10 per serve.

Nov 15: Vegetarian Pad Thai

We prepared a simple sandwich of Neufchâtel, Sun-dried Tomatoes and Spinach.

A very decent sandwich for $1.48 per serve.

Dinner

Tonight we opted for a prepared Vegetarian Pad Thai for $3.59 per serve after all discounts. It was okay.

Nov 14: Rack of Lamb with Citrus and Feta Salad

Lunch

Foodie Greg made a rare visit to Amazon Fresh for their BBQ Chicken deal. We heated some Panini Rolls and added Tomato and Spicy Garlic Spread.

  • The Panini Roll is 55c per serve
  • The BBQ Chicken was $4.97 and we shared a Breast, or 63c per serve
  • Add 30c for Tomato
  • Add 40c for Garlic Spread.

The Amazon Fresh Chicken was very moist, and a generous size. It was a good lunch for $1.88 per serve.

Dinner

We defrosted our last half Rack of Lamb before souse vide it to a perfect medium rare. We then gave it an extensive sear to render the fat. It was very successful.

  • The full Rack of Lamb was $22.98, but we halve it for service and share a half, or $5.74 per serve
  • The Grapefruit was $1.69, or 85c per serve
  • The Feta was $6.49 and we shared ¼, or 81c per serve
  • Add 30c for Shallot and other ingredients.

We really nailed the Lamb preparation this time, with the fat well rendered and the meat perfectly rare. An excellent meal for $7.70 per serve.

Nov 13: Caramelized Pork served on a Garden Salad

Lunch

It has been far too long between Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches from Skewers, for $8.75 per serve.

Dinner

As it had been a month, we prepared Caramelized Pork and served it on a Garden Salad.

  • The ground pork was $5.99 and we’ll get four serves from that, or $1.50 per serve
  • Add 40c for ginger, shallot, garlic and chili, etc
  • Spinach adds 35c per serve
  • Baby Bell Peppers add 64c per serve
  • Dressing ingredients add 40c per serve
  • Mint came from our garden.

A very tasty meal for $3.29 per serve.
