Sep 30: Côte d’Azur Cure-All Soup;Jackfruit “Crab” Cakes with Asparagus and Lemon-Caper Aioli

Lunch

Once again it was time for Côte d’Azur Cure-All Soup, with a hot Panini Roll for $3.29 per serve.

Dinner

Being Meatless Monday we experimented with another meat substitute: Trader Joe’s Vegan Jackfruit Cakes, which we served with Asparagus and a Lemon-Caper Aioli.

  • The Vegan Jackfruit Cakes were $3.99 or $2.00 per serve
  • The Organic Asparagus was $5.19 and we ate about ¾ or $1.95 per serve
  • Add 30c for Mayo, Capers and Lemon.

Our experience with meat substitutes is that they might taste okay, but they are weird texturally. The Jackfruit Cakes were the same: terrible. We only ate one each, with the other going in the trash. This is a truly terrible product. At least the Asparagus and Aioli were good for $4.25 per serve.
