For lunch we fell back on our favorite “at home” sandwich: Speck, Arugula and Olive Oil.

A favorite for $3.28 per serve.

Dinner

It must be Italian Day for the Foodies, with the Speck and Arugula lunch reminiscent of Italy’s AutoGrill experiences, and tonight Tagliata with Arugula, Cherry Tomato and Parmigiana Reggiano.

  • The Steak was $8.56 or $4.28 per serve
  • Arugula adds 30c per serve
  • Cherry Tomatoes add 30c per serve
  • The Parmigiana adds 82c per serve.

A very tasty and enjoyable meal for $5.70 per serve.

Oct 19: Warm Shredded Lamb Salad with Dolmas topped with Hummus, and an Arugula, Cherry Tomato, Mint and Preserved Lemon Salad

Since we had Smoked Salmon remaining, and a guest, we made Smoked Salmon Bagels with Cream Cheese, Shallot, Capers and Kumato.

  • The Brioche Bagel is 58c per serve
  • The Smoked Salmon pieces were $1.18 per serve
  • Add 45c for Cream Cheese
  • Add 30c for Shallot & Capers
  • Add 30c for Kumato.

A very tasty sandwich for $2.71 per serve.

Dinner

Our last remaining Shredded Lamb came out of the freezer for dinner tonight. Served with Dolmas and Hummus, along with a Salad of Arugula, Cherry Tomatoes, Cream Cheese, Capers and Shallots.

  • The Lamb was $21.01 or $2.10 per serve
  • Mint was free
  • The Pomegranate was $1.78 and we used half, or 44c per serve.
  • Add 30c for Onion and seasoning
  • Arugula adds 30c per serve
  • Add 20c for Preserved Lemon
  • Dolmas from Whole Foods were $1.13 per serve
  • Add 30c for Cherry Tomatoes
  • Add 46c for Hummus.

An excellent rendition of the Warm Shredded Lamb Salad for $5.13 per serve.

Oct 18: Folded Eggs on Avocado Toast

Lunch

For lunch we had a simple Cacio e Pepe, or Pasta with Parmesan, Black Pepper and a little Butter.

  • The Parmesan add 86c per serve
  • The Spiral Pasta was 89c per serve
  • Add 60c for Butter and Black Pepper.

We probably should have used more of the Parmigiano Reggiano than we did, but it was quite tasty for $2.35 per serve.

Dinner

A simple Meatless Monday meal of Folded Eggs on Avocado Toast.

  • The Italian Bread is 32c per serve
  • Two Pastured Eggs are 78c per serve
  • The Avocado was 49c or 25c per serve
  • Add 30c for Chili Onion Crisp or Sriracha.

A very tasty meal for $1.65 per serve.

Oct 17: Bay Scallops with Mushrooms and Black Rice

Lunch

For lunch we enjoyed a toasted Apple and Cheddar Sandwich with Mustard.

  • Dave’s Killer Bread is 74c per serve
  • The Apple was 68c and we shared half, or 17c per serve
  • Cheddar adds 66c per serve
  • Add 42c for two types of Mustard.

We enjoyed this sandwich way more than we expected for $2.02 per serve.

Dinner

Once again we took the Bay Scallops with Mushroom from Trader Joe’s and enhanced with additional Mushrooms before serving with Black Rice.

  • Black Rice is 34c per serve
  • The Scallops were $6.99 or $3.50 per serve
  • The Mushrooms add 89c per serve.

The enhanced result was pretty tasty for $4.73 per serve.

Oct 16: Rack of Lamb with Arugula, Feta and Pomegranate Salad

Lunch

For lunch we cooked a prepared Porcini Mushroom Risotto for $1.00 per serve with discount from Amazon Fresh. It was very good.

Dinner

Once again it was time for Rack of Lamb, which we roasted instead of sous vide in the hope of better rendering the fat.

  • The Rack of Lamb was $28.69, but we split that into two meals of two each, or $7.17 per serve
  • Arugula adds 30c per serve
  • The Feta adds 68c per serve
  • The Pomegranate was $1.78 or 89c per serve.

There was some extra rendering of the fat, but it still ate as being quite fatty, even leaving most of the fat behind. Still, a very tasty meal for $9.02 per serve.

Oct 15: Saltimbocca with Sweet Potato Gnocchi in a Butter Sage Sauce

Lunch

We 2.91

  • The Sausage Meat Mix costs $2.91 per serve
  • Puff Pastry was $4.99 or 75c per serve
  • Add 42c for half a Pear.

A very, very tasty lunch for $4.08 per serve.

Dinner

Saltimbocca remains a favorite, and tonight we served with a Sweet Potato Gnocchi with it’s own Butter Sage Sauce.

  • The Pork Chops were $7.85 or $3.93 per serve
  • The Gnocchi was $3.49 or $1.75 per serve.

The Sweet Potato, Butter, Sage Gnocchi was better than expected and we will do it again. Overall, a very tasty meal for $5.66 per serve.

Oct 14: Smoke Salmon on Italian Toast topped with Folded Eggs, with a Simple Salad

Lunch

We shared a can of Aldi’s Potato Soup for $1.03 per serve.

Dinner

Although it was time for Smoked Salmon Pizza, we mixed it up and did Smoked Salmon on Toasted Italian Bread spread with Cream Cheese and Capers, topped with Folded Eggs, served with a simple Salad.

  • The Italian Bread is 38c per serve
  • Sockeye Smoked Salmon pieces were $5.49 or $1.65 per serve
  • Two Pastured Eggs are $1.00
  • Add 20c for Neufchatel
  • Add 10c for Capers.

A very tasty meal for $3.33 per serve.

Oct 13: Bento Box with Seared Tuna Tataki

Lunch

We had some rather good Rosemary Ham, so it seemed like a Panini was the way to go.

  • The Ciabatta is 58c per serve
  • The Rosemary Ham was $3.29 and we used about half in the Paninis, or 83c per serve
  • Add 30c for Olive Oil.

A very tasty Panini for $1.71 per serve.

Dinner

It was time return to

  • The Bento Box was $21.02 per serve with tax and tip.
  • Twelve ounces of Ahi Tuna from Aldi is $5.62, and we shared ⅔, or $1.88 per serve.

While it was way too much food, it was very tasty for $22.90 per serve.

Oct 12: Hambagu Hamburger

Lunch

The Foodies had frozen Grain Bowls for $2.99 each.

Dinner

As an experiment we took the Hambāgu and made it into a Hamburger by adding Kumato and Mayo!

  • The Hambāgu was $2.94 per serve
  • The Brioche Buns are 58c per serve
  • Add 35c for Mayo
  • Add 25c for half a Kumato each.

This was a very excellent sandwich, reminiscent of one we had at a roadside cart in Italy. We’ll definitely repeat it for $4.12 per serve.

Oct 11: Spanish Mussels with Chorizo and Tomato-Wine Sauce with Garlic Toast

Lunch

We build a pseudo-Reuben with Pastrami, Sauerkraut and Cheddar.

  • Dave’s Killer Bread is 74c per serve
  • Gouda is 34c per serve
  • The Pastrami was $6.49 and we shared ⅓, or $1.08 per serve
  • The Sauerkraut adds 47c per serve
  • Add 30c for Sauce ingredients.

A tasty sandwich for $2.93 per serve.

Dinner

We returned to the Spanish Mussels with Chorizo and Tomato-Wine Sauce and Garlic Toast.

  • The pre-cooked Mussels were $2.29 or $1.15 per serve
  • Sherry adds 58c per serve
  • The Chorizo was $5.11 after all discounts and we used half, or $1.28 per serve
  • Add 85c for other ingredients
  • The Italian Bread is 38c per serve
  • The Garlic Spread adds 40c per serve.

Always a tasty meal for $4.74 per serve.
