Sep 27: Filet Américain, Baguette and Endive

  • The Cheddar Spread was $4.99 and we used about 30%, or 83c per serve

While quite tasty, the Cheddar Spread was out of balance (too little) with the rest of the ingredients. At $1.46 per serve, we preferred the traditional.

Dinner

We had a second attempt at Filet Américain with more seasoning, and served with Baguette slices and Endive. There are really three serves of the Filet Américain.

Because of heat predictions we swapped our Meatless Monday to today and enjoyed Folded Eggs on Avocado Toast, with either Chili Onion Crisp or Sriracha Sauce on top.

  • The Italian Bread is 32c per serve
  • Two Pastured Eggs are 78c per serve
  • The Avocado was 49c or 25c per serve

Sep 21: Pork Belly Porchetta with Roast Shallots and an Arugula, Pear and Shaved Parmesan Salad

Lunch

One more Smoked Salmon Bagel is never enough.

  • Six Bagels were $3.39, or 57c per serve
  • The Smoked Salmon pieces were $1.18 per serve
  • Add 45c for Cream Cheese
  • Add 30c for Shallot & Capers.

A great sandwich for $1.50.

Dinner

We took the remaining Pork Belly Porchetta slices and roasted them for another hour and a half, which is what we should have done in the first place. With the fat rendered it was a much more peasant and still very tasty. A great meal for $4.19 per serve.

Sep 20: Lamb Rogan Josh with Rice and Peas

Lunch

We finished a par-baked Ciabatta Baguette and heated some Breakfast Ham and Gouda in the same oven. Add some Moonblushed Cherry Tomatoes and you have a sandwich.

After a very good Porchetta in Italy we decided to try it with a rolled Pork Belly on special at Whole Foods. We unrolled it, added fresh herbs, and then rolled and tied it again.

  • The Pork Belly was $9.58 after all discounts, or $2.40 per serve
  • Shallots add 40c per serve
  • Arugula adds 40c per serve
  • The Pear was 75c and we shared half, or 19c per serve
