It was cold enough for us to cook another of our Sausage Roll meals for $3.10 plus 40c for the Salad: $3.50 per serve.

Dinner

Inspired by a dish we had in Campora a few weeks ago, we presented our Three Cheese Tortellini in a Tasty Beef Broth.

  • The tortellini cos $3.99 or $2.00 per serve
  • Beef Bone Broth is $3.49 or $1.75 per serve
  • Demi-glace adds 50c per serve.

While perhaps not quite as good as our Campora treat, it was still pretty good for $4.25 per serve.

May 19: NY Strip Steak with Waffle Fries and Garden Salad

Lunch

We shared a Specially Select Mozzarella, Cherry Tomato & Arugula Pizza for $3.99 or $2.00 per serve.

Dinner

With a NY Strip Steak, Waffle Fries and Salad, it’s obviously Thursday Night, Steak Night!

  • Two NY Strip Steaks were $15.18 and we shared one, or $3.80 per serve
  • The Waffle Fries were $1.49, and we shared half or 38c per serve
  • Add 40c for semi-dried Cherry Tomatoes
  • Add 30c for Lettuce
  • Add 40c for Dressing Ingredients.

The Waffle fries give us the closest experience to a “proper” deep friend chip that we can get from an oven fry. Overall a well balanced and tasty meal for $5.28 per serve.

May 18: Beef Rissoles with Australian Salad

Lunch

A toasted Ham, Cheese and Tomato Sandwich made a decent lunch.

  • The Aldi Bread is 58c per serve
  • The Gouda is 34c per serve
  • Garlic Spread is 40c per serve
  • Breakfast Ham is 60c per serve.

A good lunch for $1.92 per serve.

Dinner

A welcome return to Beef Rissoles cooked on the griddle outdoors, served as usual, with an Australian inspired Salad. Not only was it warm enough to cook outside, we ate outside as well.

  • Ground beef $5.99 or $2.00 per serve
  • 8 oz Panko breadcrumbs are $2.99 and we used half, or 50c per serve
  • A Pastured Egg is 38c or 13c per serve
  • The onion is 8c per serve
  • Pickled beets in vinaigrette are $1.69, of which we used about ⅓ or 28c per serve
  • We used about ½ of the $3.95 Sharp Cheddar, or 66c per serve
  • Add 40c for sugar free Ketchup.

A very tasty meal with a very good balance between meat and vegetable components, for $4.06 per serve.

May 17: Sea Scallops and Mushrooms with Black Rice

Lunch

A Smoked Salmon Pizza is always followed by Smoked Salmon Bagels shortly thereafter, and today we benefited from the Smoked Salmon Bagel.

  • The Brioche Bagel is 58c
  • The Smoked Salmon pieces were $1.38 per serve
  • Add 20c for Neufchatel
  • Add 60c for Cucumber, Semi-dried Tomatoes , Onion Sprouts & Capers.

An indulgent lunch for $2.76 per serve.

Dinner

Tonight’s Saucy Bay Scallops with Mushrooms from Trader Joe’s, served with Black Rice was enhanced with some extra Mushroom.

  • Black Rice is 34c per serve
  • The Scallops were $6.99 or $3.50 per serve
  • The Mushrooms add 89c per serve.

It was much better with the additional Mushroom, putting the price up to $4.73 per serve.

May 16: Vegetable Penang Curry with Jasmine Rice

Lunch was a simple Ham & Coleslaw sandwich.

  • The Breakfast Ham is $2.99 for six, or 50c per serve
  • Coleslaw adds 30c per serve.

A decent sandwich for $1.56 per serve.

Dinner

For tonight’s Meatless Monday we chose a Vegetable Penang Curry with Jasmine Rice meal from Trader Joe’s for $3.49 per serve.

May 15: Roast Chicken Leg on Spiral Pasta with Lemon Alfredo Sauce

Lunch

For lunch we repeated the Chicken Breast Baguette.

  • The Chicken was $4.97 and we shared a Breast, or 63c per serve
  • The Aldi ‘Bake at Home’ Baguette was $1.89, but we shared half, or 48c
  • Semi-dried Cherry Tomatoes add about 40c per serve
  • The Mayonaise adds 40c per serve.

A very tasty sandwich for $1.91 per serve.

Dinner

We finished the Roast Chicken by serving the Legs with Spiral Past and a Lemon Alfredo Sauce.

  • The Chicken Leg was $1.25 per serve
  • The Lemon Alfredo was $3.79 or $1.90 per serve.
  • The Spiral Pasta was 89c per serve
  • Peas add 30c per serve.

A decent meal for $4.34 per serve.

May 14: Warm Shredded Lamb Salad on Garlic Hummus with Pita Chips and a Lettuce, Cucumber, Preserved Lemon and Mint Salad

We still had some Shredded Lamb in the freezer, so we served on Hummus, scooped with Pita Chips and had a little salad on the side.

  • Add 30c for Onion and seasoning

This is a meal where every component balances each other. Definitely good eats for $4.52 per serve.

May 13: Smoked Salmon Pizza

We had a ready-to-bake Baguette and when Foodie Greg picked up a Roast Chicken from Amazon Fresh, we were set for a Roast Chicken Sandwich.

With some warm weather came a welcome return to our Smoked Salmon Pizza.

  • We used semi-dried Cherry Tomatoes for 60c per serve
  • About two ounces of Neufchatel went on each Pizza, or 25c per serve
  • Preserved Lemon adds 5c per serve
  • Two Endive were $3.99 or 50c per serve.

Having realized that most Italian Pizza is unconventional we feel better about our Smoked Salmon version for $5.00 per serve..

May 12: Saltimbocca with Ricotta and Lemon Zest Ravioli

Foodie Greg picked up our regular Fried Scallop, Fries and Coleslaw from Mr Fish and Chips for $7.84 per serve with tax and tip.

Dinner

After a fabulous vacation to Italy it was time to settle back in to our routine and start cooking, which Foodie Greg did tonight with Saltimbocca with Ricotta and Lemon Zest Ravioli.

  • The Pork Chops were $7.99 or $4.00 per serve
  • The Speck was $3.99 or $2.00 per serve
  • The Sage came from our garden
  • The Ravioli was $3.69 or $1.85 per serve
  • Add 30c for Arugula.

The Saltimbocca has become a definite favorite and tonight’s pairing worked well for $8.15 per serve.
